Derby Public Schools began the implementation of a new digital visitor management system called SafeVisitor earlier this school year. This comprehensive system enhances our school entrance security, streamlines the check-in process and help us be more aware of everyone in our schools so that we can account for them in the event of an emergency.

First semester, Derby High School, Derby North Middle School, Derby Hills Elementary and Tanglewood Elementary School implemented the system. By the end of January, all remaining schools will be utilizing SafeVisitor. (families will receive more detail from their school once implemented at their building)

All approved visitors will have a picture taken at each visit and receive a badge that must be visible at all times. Visitors will return to the main office to check out at the front desk. If you do not have identification, please let the office staff know that you would like to sign in. Staff members can assist you and answer questions. The check-in process is not necessary if you are simply dropping off or picking up items from the office. This includes families, volunteers, community partners, contractors and vendors. Visitors will be asked to present a Driver’s License or government issued ID which will be quickly scanned into the system. The information will be run through the national database of registered sex offenders and local exclusion lists. It will not save other information from the ID or make a copy of the physical ID.

You are also able to pre-register and be on the list when you arrive. Learn more HERE

Thank you in advance for your participation and support of our safety efforts. You are an important part of our school community. We look forward to seeing you!
