On Wednesday, September 28 from 12-2:30PM, approximately 700 third-grade students throughout the district will take part in the Kansas Kids Fitness Day at Panther Stadium. This event aims to promote awareness of the importance of fitness and encourage students to lead an active, healthy lifestyle. Kansas Kids Fitness Day also promotes communication and sportsmanship through cooperative and team-building activities. The event focuses on increasing physical activity and safety awareness. We encourage everyone to come out and support the well-being of Derby third graders!

Kansas Kids Fitness and Safety Day is a statewide event typically held in the first week of May, but this year we are choosing to hold it in September. Nearly 18,000 students participated each year at more than 40 sites across the state.

The benefits associated with regular physical activity include: weight control, increased muscular strength, improved bone mass, improved cardiovascular fitness, decreased blood pressure, improved self-esteem, reduced anxiety and stress. (According to the CDC)

We are anticipating another great event and look forward to your support on Wednesday, September 28!
