January is School Board Recognition Month and Derby Public Schools would like to thank the community leaders who serve as Board of Education members. Celebrate School Board Appreciation Month with us by thanking our school board members! Our school board includes Michael Blankenship, Pamela Doyle, Matthew Joyce, Jennifer Neel, Robyn Pearman, Tina Prunier and Andy Watkins. These seven individuals make crucial decisions for the students and staff at Derby Public Schools.

School board members develop policies and make tough decisions that help shape the future of our education system. For Derby Public Schools, they bear responsibility and oversight for an annual budget of $112,634,223 million, 6,940 students, over 1,200 employees and 18 facilities.

“More than ever, Board of Education members across the country are presented with many challenges and tough decisions. We are appreciative of the individuals who have chosen to serve our community as school board members,” Heather Bohaty, Superintendent of Schools, said. “Our Board of Education is committed to meeting educational needs and achieving academic growth for all students. These seven individuals continue to seek ways for stakeholder involvement and want to ensure Derby continues to be a sought-after school district.”

Derby Public Schools encourages the entire community to thank a school board member, not only this month but throughout the entire year. (pictured left to right, back row): Pamela Doyle, Andy Watkins, Matthew Joyce, Tina Prunier, (front row) Robyn Pearman, Michael Blankenship and Jennifer Neel.
