
The Derby High School Boys Wrestling team recently excelled and took first place at the State Championship tournament, claiming their seventh state title in program history. As a team, they finished with a total of 193.5 points, 25 points over the runner-up. Not only was it an exciting tournament for the wrestling team, but Coach Bill Ross was named the 2023 Regional Coach of the Year! Congratulations to Coach Ross and the Boys Wrestling team!
Additionally, two Derby wrestlers took individual state titles. Junior Amara Ehsa won her second straight Class 6A State Championship in less than seven minutes of mat time at the Girls State Championship tournament. Senior Knowlyn Egan finished his high school career with a 2-1 win over Alec Samuelson of Olathe North, making him a State Champion!
Congratulations to the Boys Wrestling State Championship team, Coach Ross for earning Regional Coach of the Year and to individual State Champions Amara Ehsa and Knowlyn Egan! We are #DerbyProud!
