Virtual Backpack (Community Flyers)
The Derby Public Schools Virtual Backpack, posted in ParentSquare only, provides families with a convenient place to find district information, resources and opportunities for students and families. The Virtual Backpack also features Community Courtesy Posts, which highlight approved events, programs, resources and opportunities offered by local organizations. These posts are intended for opportunities that benefit students and families across multiple schools or district-wide. The Virtual Backpack and Community Courtesy Posts are published on the first and third Thursdays of each month during the school year.
To share information about a program or event with the school community, please review the district’s distribution guidelines and submit your request by the Tuesday prior to the requested publication date. Please note: To be mindful of the number of messages families receive, individual reminders or repeat posts will not be distributed. Derby Public Schools reserves the right to limit the frequency or number of submissions from individual organizations.
Digital flyers and other distribution requests from community organizations must meet the following guidelines:
- Be educational in nature or support students' overall development and well-being.
- Provide general information about a community event, program, activity or opportunity that is appropriate for students and families.
- Flyers shall not be used to advertise or promote groups, organizations, or viewpoints.
- Be sponsored by a nonprofit or community organization. For-profit advertising and corporate promotions are not accepted.
- Activities, flyers and announcements must be appropriate for the intended student group and must be consistent with these guidelines and the policies of Derby Public Schools.
- Preference may be given to opportunities located within district boundaries or that primarily serve Derby Public Schools students and families.
- Flyers not meeting these guidelines will not be distributed.
