Our district employs hundreds of paraprofessionals and other classroom support staff, both full-time and part-time. Paras typically follow the same schedule as students, which is very convenient for those with school-aged children. Can't commit to a regular position? No problem! We also need substitute paras.

While we tend to have a busier hiring season during the summer, we do fill vacant positions throughout the entire year. Check out our job openings and apply online if you're interested!

"Operations" includes jobs within our Food Service, Transportation, Custodial and Maintenance Departments. We have full-time and part-time positions. We also hire substitutes if you're unable to commit to a full-time job but still want to work. 

BUS DRIVING: Have you ever driven a school bus? We can let you try it out and even help you prepare for a CDL test. Contact our Transportation office if you're interested, (316) 788-8450. We also hire van drivers, which doesn't require a CDL. Bus drivers make $16.14-$20.78/hr.

FOOD SERVICE: Tired of working restaurant shifts in the evening? Don't worry about working evenings and weekends when you work food service at Derby Schools. We pay $10.79-$16.30/hr for server/cook positions, and $10.74 for sub positions.

Derby Schools employs over 1,100 staff members to serve more than 7,000 students at our 12 school buildings in Derby and parts of Wichita. Derby's Latchkey program offers before and after school care for grades K-5. We currently have sites at Derby Hills, Swaney and Wineteer, with hopes of expanding soon. Students that attend other schools are transported from their attendance center to the Latchkey site.

Latchkey jobs are available for both morning and afternoon shifts. Some people work one, and some people work both.  A lot of the Latchkey staff members are people who also work a regular position within the school district (teacher, para, etc.), but this is not a requirement.
