New for the 2024-2025 school year, the immunization exclusion date for students has been moved from November to September. State law requires that all students have proper vaccinations or meet the alternative to the certification requirement, or they will not be allowed to enter or continue in school. Each student enrolled in Derby Public Schools must file documentation of his or her immunization status. This is done by filing a Kansas Certificate of Immunization (KCI) form signed by a physician or local Health Department official. This must be provided by Tuesday, September 3, 2024. All students are expected to follow the guidelines outlined in K.S.A. 72-6262 and Board Policy JGCB. Students seeking a waiver for medical or religious reasons should contact the school nurse for further assistance. Any student who fails to provide this documentation will be excluded from school starting September 3, 2024. Please contact the Special Services Department at (316) 554-8004 for more information.
