Employees should not come to work when they are sick or showing symptoms of Covid 19, have a Covid 19 test pending, or are following a physician/health-department directed quarantine due to Covid 19. Employees should follow the current guidance of our local health department/government and policies/procedures of the school district regarding Covid 19. Employees should let Human Resources know immediately if they test positive for Covid 19 or have been advised to quarantine.

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) required certain employers to provide their employees with paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to Covid 19. This was available April 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020. With Board approval, Derby Schools chose to extend this through July 31, 2021. Please note that it will no longer be provided beginning August 1, 2021.

When time off is needed related to Covid 19, employees will need to submit leave requests through Frontline (teachers) or Skyward (classified and administrators). Any time taken off related to Covid 19 will come from the employee's accumulated leave balance. For extended leave situations, please contact HR for possible FMLA eligibility information.

The school district encourages all employees who are able to and are comfortable to be vaccinated against Covid 19 as we work together to make our schools safer for everyone present. Multiple locations nearby are providing free Covid 19 vaccines. Contact them directly to schedule an appointment or go through the website Vaccines.gov to review locations and to schedule an appointment.
