We are proud to share that Derby High School's Panther Pals Program was selected for the Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB) Conference District Showcase on November 15 in Wichita.
The Panther Pals Program is a shining example of an inclusive school community in action. Led by dedicated staff members at DHS, this incredible program pairs student mentors with peers with special needs. Together, they participate in community learning, enjoy fun field trips and engage in in-class relationship-building activities that foster connection and understanding.
At the conference, Panther Pals showcased their hard work by running their Panther Brew coffee shop, offering complimentary drinks to attendees and selling their handmade car freshies (air fresheners). KASB’s District Showcase provides districts with the opportunity to highlight standout programs during their Annual Convention. Selected districts receive a $250 program donation to support their initiatives.
This served as an incredible opportunity to share the amazing work happening in Derby Public Schools with board members and education leaders from across Kansas. Way to go, Panther Pals—you make us #DerbyProud!
