Derby Public Schools is excited to launch ParentSquare as our new district-wide communication platform. Beginning this summer and ahead of the 2026-2027 school year, ParentSquare will become the primary way families, staff and schools communicate.

This move brings school, district, classroom, activities and athletics communication into one convenient place, making it easier for staff and families to stay connected, informed and engaged from a mobile device or computer.

How Do I Get Started?

You will receive an invite to your email from ParentSquare on May 19. Click the link and follow the steps. If it is not in your inbox, please be sure to check your Spam folder. If you did not receive an invite, please reach out to your building’s administrative assistant or go to www.parentsquare.com and register with the email associated with the school comm. (if you have students in multiple buildings, you just need one invite to connect.

After July 1, 2026, families will begin receiving school and district communications through ParentSquare via email, text, voice and app notifications. Families who activate their accounts will also be able to reply to messages, manage notification preferences, complete forms, view photos and more. After receiving the invite, download the free ParentSquare app for iOS or Android, or visit www.parentsquare.com to log in.

Why We Are Making This Change

Based on feedback about the challenges of using multiple communication tools. ParentSquare helps simplify and streamline communication while improving consistency across the district. It also supports key priorities such as:

• Multilingual, two-way messaging
• Mobile and web access
• Emergency alerts and notifications
• One tool for across all grade levels and schools
• A secure, monitored and district-supported communication solution.

What You Can Do with ParentSquare

ParentSquare offers an easy-to-use platform where families and staff can:

• Choose how and when messages are received
• Send and reply to messages
• View school calendars 
• Complete forms and permission slips
• Communicate in preferred languages with built-in translation
• Access everything in one place

At the secondary level (grades 6–12), students will have access to StudentSquare on their school device or through a mobile app for after-school activities and athletics communication. Students/Families may choose to download the free ParentSquare app for iOS or Android, if preferred.
