Throughout the school year, Derby Public Schools proudly recognizes outstanding staff members and school volunteers with the I Make A Difference Award (IMAD).

The IMAD Award recognizes individuals in two categories:

• Staff IMAD Award: Recognizes outstanding or dedicated service to Derby Public Schools students and the district.
• Volunteer IMAD Award: Recognizes exceptional service to Derby Public Schools students, schools or community that positively reflects the district.

Students, parents, staff members, volunteers and community members are encouraged to nominate someone whose commitment, service or actions deserve special recognition. Staff and volunteer recipients are selected four times throughout the school year. Nominations that are not selected during one recognition period will remain eligible for consideration during the remaining award periods that school year. Recognition occurring during Board of Education meetings held at 1550 E. Walnut Grove Road in Derby.

2026-2027 Recognition Dates & Nomination Deadlines

• Monday, October 12, 2026, 6:30PM; Nominations Due: September 21, 2026
• Monday, December 14, 2026, 6:30PM; Nominations due: November 16, 2026
• Monday, March 8, 2027, 6:30PM; Nominations due: February 8, 2027
• Monday, May 10, 2027, 6:30PM; Nominations due: April 19, 2027

Previous IMAD Award recipients are not eligible to receive the award again.
