Get ready for the 2026-2027 school year! Each school will be holding a Back-to-School event. Each school will communicate building-specific information.

• Tuesday, August 4 • High School Back-to-School Night, 4:30-7PM: Meet your teachers, walk your schedule and learn more about Derby High School. Principal Gretchen Pontious will host a welcome session at 5:30PM in the auditorium to share about academics, career pathways, student support programs and extracurricular opportunities. The 2025-2026 Yearbook will also be available to pick up. This is a come-and-go event.
   
• Thursday, August 6 • Middle School Back-to-School Night. 4:30-7PM: Families will have the opportunity to meet teachers and support staff, visit classrooms, tour the building and become familiar with their school environment. They can also drop off supplies, pick up their schedule and locate their locker before the first day of school. This is a come-and-go event.
   
• Monday, August 10 • Elementary 10-Minute Conferences, 8AM-12PM & 4-7PM: Families will have the opportunity to schedule a visit, designed to help staff get to know your child and respond to your family's needs before the first day of school. This is a great opportunity to drop off school supplies, meet staff, share important information and help ensure a smooth start to the school year. These are pre-scheduled. Schools will communicate how to sign up.

Mark your calendar for the first day of school! Tuesday, August 11 is a half-day and the first day of school for all 6th graders, all 9th graders and new students in grades 7-8 and 10-12. The first day for all students is Wednesday, August 12. Elementary schools will also begin on August 12. Schools will provide the Pre-K and Kindergarten schedule for the first two days of school.
