Experience Driving a School Bus During “Try-it-Out” Days at Panther Stadium
The Transportation Department at Derby Public Schools is sponsoring two “Try-it-Out” days for persons interested in experiencing driving a bus. The district is currently seeking to fill bus driver positions prior to the start of the 2022-2023 school year. The purpose of this event is to provide an opportunity for hands-on exposure to help decide if driving a bus could be the right job for you. Bus driver trainers will be on-site to speak with those interested in learning more about what driving a bus entails and will ride with the person while the bus is being operated. (Note: A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is not required to attend or apply. We will help you acquire a CDL, if hired.)
“Our goal is to generate interest and insight to what driving a school bus for the best district in the state of Kansas is like,” Randy Collins, Transportation Supervisor, said. “Our drivers will be on hand to observe anyone wanting to try driving a bus as well as answer any questions to why we enjoy doing this very rewarding job.”
“Try-it-Out” Days will be at Panther Stadium, located at 925 E. Madison Ave. in Derby:
• Tuesday, June 21, 8:00AM-11:00AM and 5:00PM-8:00PM
• Thursday, June 23, 8:00AM-11:00AM and 5:00PM-8:00PM
