State Assessments
State assessments, done through the Kansas Assessment Program, include a variety of tests and other tools aligned to statewide curriculum standards. These tests and tools are designed to support educators and policymakers in evaluating student learning, as well as to meet the requirements for federal and state accountability. Kansas assessments place student scores in one of four benchmark levels. Students in 3rd-8th grade take state assessments in English Language Arts and Math. Students in 5th and 8th grade also take an assessment in Science. High school students test in English Language Arts and Math in 10th grade and in Science in 11th grade. Assessments are designed by the Center for Educational Testing and Evaluation. More information can be found on the KSDE State Assessment web page.
